At his recent press conference with TSN, Matthews made it clear to everyone that he has no time for doubters.

"I believe it and I think everyone in this room believes it," he said during today's end-of-season press conference. "We don't really concern ourselves with opinions of others, the media, or fans and what other people think. I know deep down we all believe in each other, and it's a tough pill to swallow, but I don't think the belief ever wavered. Throughout the year with all the ups and downs we went through as a team, a slow start and maybe shaky in the middle, during the season we could a way to push back. Even throughout the series...I know the belief in this room is very high, regardless of the outcome and maybe what outside opinions think."

Matthews believes that despite the loss, there was a "different feeling" this time around.

"In the end, it's not the outcome we wanted," he said. "It sucks, it's a tough pill to swallow. But I felt like it was a much different feeling throughout the series than previous years. The effort and pushback we had, but ultimately, you still leave and go home not in a great place, and we're frustrated at how things ended."

He is right! Those two games that the Maple Leafs came back were huge. They almost sealed game 6, but the better team won.
